Selling Guide

Essential tips that will help you sell your kitchen:

1. Give potential buyers as much information as possible on the sizes of the kitchen, what materials the kitchen is built in and the condition of the kitchen.

2. Used kitchens that include kitchen appliances are much easier to sell.

3. Most people who are considering to buy a used kitchen understand that they are responsible to dismantle and remove the kitchen, however used kitchens that are already dismantled by the seller are much easier to sell. Remember to take lots of photos prior to dismantling your kitchen so people get a better idea of what it looks like.

4. Most buyers want to see a kitchen prior to purchasing and most sellers want to meet the person who is going to dismantle the kitchen. We recommend a classifieds selling format to give people time to inspect the kitchen prior to making an offer rather than the shorter 7 day auction format. Sales conducted using the classifieds format are less likely to fall through.

5. When taking photos of the used kitchen, ensure one of the photos is of the whole kitchen, to give people a better idea of what it looks like.

6. It is important to let buyers know when the kitchen will be ready to remove.

7. It is also important to let buyers know if the price is negotiable. For some reason buyers are reluctant to call sellers to negotiate, so if the kitchen is listed for a price above their budget, more often than not, they will not bother to call.

8. We get an average of 350 people a day looking for second hand kitchens (you can actually see how many of those people view your listing), so if you have a listing on out site but no one is contacting you, it would be worth revising your selling price.

Please read the "Selling Terms" below, to get a better idea on how we recommend the selling process should work:

1. You, as the seller, agree that the information entered about your advertised product is true and correct as you understand them and that it is the responsibility of the purchaser to inspect the product should they wish to ensure the materials and condition of the products suit their requirements.

2. It is the responsibility of the seller to give the purchaser all relevant information about the product over the phone should it be asked for, prior to making an appointment for the purchaser to inspect the product.

3. It is the determined by the seller that the product is being advertised for sale because it is deemed in reasonable condition to be reused. (i.e.: there is no apparent water damage, the product looks structurally sound and that it works as intended). The seller however makes no guarantees of this and the purchaser is encouraged to inspect the product prior to purchase should they wish.

4. It is the responsibility of the purchaser to arrange for the product to be removed and transported and that once the product has begun to be removed that it becomes the property of the purchaser. The purchaser should also arrange to have contacts/contractors available, who are able to remove and transport the used kitchen, prior to making contact with the seller.

5. It is the responsibility of the seller to ensure that the products are cleared of accessories prior to pick up to save time

6. It is the responsibility of the seller to ensure all plumbing and electrical are disconnected, including the fuse box, hot water service, gas, etc.... However, for safety reasons, it is the responsibility of the purchaser to ensure this has been done prior to beginning to remove the product.

7. It is the responsibility of the purchaser to take all care when removing the old kitchen and/or other products however it is not their responsibility to repair walls, floors or ceilings should they be damaged when removing the old kitchen and/or other products. It is not the responsibility of the purchaser to remove any additional waste, such as plasterboard, render, wall tiles etc.

8. We recommend a purchaser pay a 20% deposit to confirm the sale. Payment in full must be made prior to the products removal by either cash or bank cheque unless otherwise agreed by the seller.

9. We ask the Seller to be careful of any unusal transaction requests, from people posing a Buyers, that are different to the payment terms noted above.Identify Scams

10. That all the conditions above are just a recommendation by Second Hand Kitchens and that all responsibility of all aspects of the transaction is between the purchaser and seller (advertiser) of the product.
